The main focus of this project is to open the back of the kitchen and dining room and extends to the return side. "The whole area under the glass roof which used to be external," said architect John Norman. "We achieved a Planning Permit extension of the infill full to make the enlarged kitchen-diner. The goal is to create a space that is elegant but the industry with a timeless quality to it."

The kitchen and dining area at the rear of the property was originally much more small and felt dark and cut off from the living space,
The new kitchen is designed bespoke by Mustard architect and handmade by a carpenter. It combines front of stained birch plywood cabinet with stainless-steel worktops, integrated sink and had to complete a smooth who have different views of urban-industrial.
"We use stained birch plywood to create bespoke, textured finish," said Norman. "This is a material that is easy to work with and has a straightforward yet elegant details."

Norman chose to exposed ductwork for increasing vibration space industry. "We use off-the-shelf rigid metal ductwork, the contractor installed at the site," he said.
"Cooking is another important aspect for our clients and we help them see through the various options cooker before they settled in various Falcon and hood."

a glass roof is a major requirement of the clients' brief and a part of the design from the beginning. "We have to work closely with builders to discuss how the new structure will integrate with the old," Norman explained.
The client wanted to expose the existing floor joists above the main kitchen area to create features an attractive ceiling.
"We ran with the idea of using oversized, rough-cut wood rafters for rooflight support in the extension," added Norman. " We can use aluminum ceiling standards, but it would not be appropriate for smooth and square them. Instead, we determined the rough-hewn to match the end of the floor beams, and their greatness that they they become a strong element in space. "
All exposed brickwork and beams then simply painted white. This not only keeps costs down, it also helps to achieve the industrial textured background without too much fuss. "She works to bring together all the different materials while keeping their raw finish," the architect added.
The retro-style dining table and chairs were picked up from second-hand shops by clients when they were living in New York.

The opening between each room is widened and kept free from the door to allow as much light as possible to sift through . It's a balance between the modern, open-plan living and traditional, individual rooms.
"The house has a pretty simple, open layout on the ground floor," said Norman. "We created a procession of space, from the living room front through to the living room behind [in the middle of the house] to the kitchen-diner and into the garden.
" There is a sense of awesome space and light that hits you when moving from front to back. When in the dining room, you have a view into the garden, returned to the living room, in the kitchen and into the sky and, at night, the stars, "he added.

back door and previously white uPVC windows are double-glazed unit and away from what the client wants. They were replaced with low-profile, Crittall steel frames in accordance with the feel of the rest of the space industry.
